Mad Mapping in Community: Creating a personal Care Plan (Together)
Sign up for a free ticket HERE (limited spots) workshop + mad map zine printed in risography
”A mad map is a guide, usually best worked on in moments where we are feeling more centered or having more capacity, that we can turn to in moments where things go sideways or we feel ourselves slipping. A mad map can be like a little gift of preparation for a future self who is going into potentially dangerous waters." -Dean Spade
We will start with an introduction to the concept of mad mapping and community care practices for mental health. Then we will show you some examples of mad maps. This will be followed by some guided exercises. Each person will then start their own care plan in a zine format. We will finish the day by making some riso copies, folding them, and decorating. We will provide snacks and some drinks to power us through the afternoon. You are also welcome to bring your own or to share.
Access: The space will be scent-free, we will air out the room throughout the workshop, and we will keep the entrance cigarette-free so it doesn’t come inside. The music will be kept low, as well as the lighting. Please feel free to bring stim toys, headphones, noise-cancelling aids, and whatever else you need to feel comfortable! Unfortunately, the space has three steps from the street level to the inside. If you have any questions or requests about access please message monotropically@protonmail.com
